Grade 4: Perspective & Foreshortening

Falling for 4th Grade



Students used size to help create their artwork.  Size is a perspective technique used to create the illusion of SPACE in artwork.

Grade 4: FREEFORM SCULPTURES


Freeform Sculptures




Students created these fabulous sculptures with markers and construction paper.  They began by drawing a very large freeform (organic) shape, filling the paper.  Then they divided the large Shape in to smaller Shapes.  Next, Patterns were made using Line, Shape and Color.  Finally, the individual sections were cut out and glued together to Form these colorful 3-D Sculptures.


















3: FLUORESCENT FLOWERS

Learning target:
I can use a variety of clay techniques to create a 3D piece of artwork.


Third graders studied Form.   Form is one of the Elements of Art.  Then they explored three different clay techniques
to construct their flowers.  Slab method, rolling or pressing clay into a pancake like shape.  Coil method, rolling clay into a cylinder  and then forming it with the fingers.  Pinch pot method,  rolling the clay into a sphere then pressing a thumb into it and pinch the clay while working a circular motion to the top.   Students explored clay techniques to create these lovely fluorescent flowers.












3: DOG GONE IT

Learning targets:
I can create Contrast using the warm and cool Colors.


Students were inspired by George Rodrigue's artwork.  He is famous for his Blue Dog paintings.
Rodrigue was an American artist from New Iberia, LA.  His career started by painting Louisiana landscapes.   He attended the Art Center College of Design, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette.









2: COLORFUL CATS (LISD - Winkley Wolverines)

Learning targets:
To create and original piece of work and create Contrast using Color.


Students use the elements Line and Shape to create their colorful cats.   They were shown how to created a Contrast by using the warm and cool Colors.
