Grade 2: Visual Texture


WISE YOUNG OWLS




Grade:  2

Learning Target: I can create visual texture using lines.

Media:  Sharpie marker, neon oil pastels, scrapbook paper, and white tempera paint

Inspiration:  Baby Owls





Students draw their owls using a pencil and then outline with a black sharpie marker.




Next, they add color using neon colored oil pastels and cut out their owls.   Then students glue their owls to their choice of scapebook paper.




Finally, students add snow using white tempera paint and a cotton swab.

I can create space in art using background, foreground and the horizon line.

Grade 5: THE LEADER IN ME (portraits)

The Leader In You

The 5th grade students were learning about a program called,  
The Leader in Me.  
In art, we were learning how to draw the human face. The goal was to combine those concepts and create good-looking works of art with a good message.  So, we researched quotes, (words of wisdom) to leave to the younger students.  The  hope was encouraged them and by doing so, they may find the leader in them.


Grade:  5

Learning Target:  I can create artwork with a theme.  
I can identify human facial features.
I can draw the human face in proportion.
I can create  a work of art with a message.

Inspiration:  Italian Jewish Painter, Amedeo Modigliani

Media:  large 18x24 poster board, pencils, tempera paints, color pencils,  texture plates, rubbing crayons and sharpie markers
