Grade 5: BUILDING BRIDGES (contrast & color)

Building Bridges

Grade:  5

Learning Target:  I can create CONTRAST in my work.
I can identify 3 famous bridges.
I can identify 2 color families on the color wheel.

Inspiration:  Golden Gate Bridge

Media:  pencil, construction paper, watercolor, tempera paint, and sharpie markers

In art class we discussed bridges and their purpose, to connect things together.  Then we practiced drawing bridges in our drawing journals.  We used the elements line and shape.

Then we were able to use our tools of choice,  crayons, markers, or watercolor to create our backgrounds.  We drew our horizon lines.

Next, we were ready to start our final.  We used warm and cool COLORS to create a CONTRAST.
Can you identify the HORIZON LINE?

Then we lightly drew our bridge of choice.

Finally, we added color to our bridges using black marker or black tempera paint.

Well done awesome artists!!!!!
